Eigenvalues of a 2×2 matrix

For $A = \begin{{pmatrix}} a & b \\ c & d \end{{pmatrix}}$, eigenvalues solve $\lambda^2 - (\mathrm{{tr}} A)\lambda + \det A = 0$. Real or complex conjugate pairs are reported.
